TRAVEL INFORMATION
Transport upon arrival in the Netherlands

By air

From Schiphol Amsterdam International Airport there is a direct railway connection to the RAI Amsterdam (RAI Railway Station). The journey will take about 10 minutes. From the RAI Railway Station it is only an 8-minute walk to the Congress Centre.

By train, tram, metro and bus
RAI Amsterdam has an excellent connection to the city's metro and bus network. Metro 52 stops right in front of the RAI and will take you into the heart of Amsterdam. When arriving at the Amstel Railway Station (Amstel Station) the RAI Amsterdam can be easily reached by buses numbers 15, 69 and 169, or subway nr. 50 and 51.
• From Amsterdam Central Station
Take metro 52 in the direction of Zuid (South) (Europaplein stop)
• From Amsterdam Amstel station
Take metro 51 (get off at train station Amsterdam RAI), or bus 65 direction KNSM eiland (Scheldeplein stop) or Bus 62 direction Lelylaan (Europaplein stop)
• From Amsterdam Sloterdijk station
Take metro 50 direction Gein (get off at train station Amsterdam RAI)
• From Amsterdam Duivendrecht station
Take the train in the direction of Schiphol (get off at train station Amsterdam RAI) or metro 50 direction Isolatorweg (get off at train station Amsterdam RAI stop)
• From Amsterdam Lelylaan station
Take bus 62 direction Amstelstation (Europaplein stop)
• From Amsterdam Zuid / WTC
Take metro 52 direction Noord (North) (Europaplein stop) or bus 65 direction KNSM eiland (Scheldeplein stop)

In the tram and in the bus you can buy a 1-hour ticket (a disposable chipcard). The ticket is also available at the GVB Tickets & Info counters and from the ticket vending machines in the metro stations. With this ticket you can travel for one hour on all GVB tram-, bus- and metro lines.

By car
When you arrive by car via Utrecht (A2) follow the signs RAI Amsterdam. The RAI Amsterdam exit is the first one on the A10, directly after intersection A2-A10. When arriving by car via The Hague (A4) you should follow the signs Amsterdam-Zuid/RAI, as signposted just before entering Amsterdam.



Car parking
Ample underground parking space is available at the RAI Amsterdam and delegates arriving by car are strongly recommended to use these facilities. Parking fees are not included in the registration fee. At RAI Amsterdam you pay for parking by the hour. The rate is € 4.00 per hour with a maximum of € 24.00 per day. Coffee and tea
During the symposium session breaks coffee and tea will be served free of charge to delegates wearing their name badge.

Electricity supply
In the Netherlands, electricity is supplied at 220 V - 50 Hz AC.

Insurance
Registration for this symposium implies that the participant agrees that the organisers do not assume any liability whatsoever. Participants are requested to make their own arrangements in respect of medical, travel and personal insurance.

Language
The official language of the symposium is English. Simultaneous translation will not be provided.

Lunches
Lunch on Tuesday is included in the registration fee and will be served from buffets in the Lounge.

Programme changes
The organisers cannot assume liability for changes in the programme due to external or unforeseen circumstances.

Registration / Information area
The Registration/Information desk in the RAI Amsterdam will be open on Monday, 12 November as of 12.00 hours.

Slide preview facilities
Speakers are asked to send their powerpoint presentation before hand to the Symposium Secrerariat. All presenters should be present in the meeting room NOT LESS THAN 30 minutes before the start of their session.

Special dietary requirements
Arrangements can be made for delegates with special dietary requirements while registering.

Taxis
Taxis can be ordered through the Receptionist’s desk at the RAI Amsterdam. Taxi fares are always indicated on the taximeter. It is usual to add a tip of about five percent to the fare. Taxi drivers will give you a receipt if asked.

Visa requirements
Entry to the Netherlands is granted to all foreigners attending symposiums organised in the Netherlands, regardless of their nationality. Delegates must, of course, meet the normal entry requirements, i.e. they must be in possession of valid travel documents and sufficient means of support.

Delegates requiring a visa for entry to the Netherlands are strongly advised to apply for a visa in their own country at least two months before their intended date of travel.
